VITARA honored with ‘Hungarian Quality Product Award’ and ‘Excellence Award’
Launched in March this year, Magyar Suzuki Corporation’s new model, the Vitara has been awarded the prestigious Hungarian Quality Product Award®, and has also won the Excellence in Innovation Award in the same contest. The 18th Hungarian Quality Product Award ceremony was held in the Parliament in Budapest, where Magyar Suzuki was represented by CEO Naoyuki Takeuchi and deputy CEO Dr. László Urbán.
Magyar Suzuki Corporation’s latest model, the Vitara has been awarded the Hungarian Quality Product Award in the ‘Vehicles’ category. Earlier, the Splash, the third generation Swift and, last year, the S-CROSS merited the prestigious award. The basic criteria for vehicles to participate in the competition were that they must be finished products, manufactured and distributed in Hungary, and ready for commercial production.
Manufactured in Esztergom, the Vitara is the car with the highest Hungarian added value: not only do Hungarian experts participate in production but they also participated in product development, with the prototype almost fully developed in Hungary in the two and a half years before the model’s introduction in March 2015.
The Vitara has become popular in Hungary fast: selling 425 units in July it conquered the top of the monthly sales list in the SUV class from the Dacia Duster. Moreover, it topped the sales list for the first seven months of 2015, selling 1,220 units. Manufactured in Esztergom, the Vitara is exported to over 80 countries.
Besides the main prize, Magyar Suzuki Corporation has won this year’s Excellence in Innovation Award in the same competition. The Excellence in Innovation Award was established by the Announcers’ Council in 2010 to recognize such innovative solutions, products or systems that are outstanding examples of the creativity of the Hungarian entrepreneur community.
On behalf of Magyar Suzuki Corporation, CEO Naoyuki Takeuchi and deputy CEO Dr. László Urbán received the main award—a unique trophy made by the creative team of the Hungarian Porcelain Manufactory Llc.—and the Excellence in Innovation Award from the Parliament’s deputy Speaker last Thursday in the Upper House Hall of the Hungarian Parliament. The award is certified with an honorary diploma in Hungarian and in English.
The Hungarian Quality Product Award is a non-profit initiative with the primary aim to encourage the development of internationally competitive products. By promoting a quality-sensitive attitude, it also contributes to the propagation of quality conscious customer behavior. A sign of the manufacturers’ and sellers’ commitment to customers, the Hungarian Quality Product Award logo appearing on products and services is a sign of the manufacturers’ and sellers’ commitment to customers, and it also represents their self-imposed guarantee for quality. The applicants for the prestigious award are exemplary products and services standing for innovation and an active quality policy.
