Then and Now Vehicle Expo: where the past is not nostalgia, but experience
The Then and Now Vehicle Expo, one of the most popular spring community events in Esztergom and the surrounding area, will be open to the public for the 8th time from 26 to 27 April on the Great Danube Promenade in the heart of the city, at the Esztergom Rugby Club. This multi-day event has become a key feature of spring cultural life in Esztergom, attracting thousands of visitors every year – not just because of the vehicles, but also for the fun, family-friendly programmes and special exhibitions.
The exhibition remains focused on presenting automotive treasures past and present: classic cars, motorbikes and modern models line up side by side. Magyar Suzuki Corporation, the main sponsor of the event, will be there with its full product portfolio. Visitors will be able to see the Vitara, S-CROSS and Swift models, as well as products from the company’s motorcycle and marine division. Magyar Suzuki has been an active participant in the event for many years – its presence not only showcases different forms of mobility, but also contributes to building the community.
The 2025 expo will feature two special thematic exhibitions. The first will present the history of the armed forces of the police: from 18th century gendarmerie equipment and relics of mounted, motorcycle and motorised police units to the present day. The second exhibition will give insight into the history of fishing and angling equipment. Moreover, military souvenirs will be more prominent than ever in this year’s programme.
The exhibition is open to the public free of charge from 10:00am to 8:00pm on Saturday 26 April, and from 10:00am to 6:00pm on Sunday 27 April. Music will be an integral part of the event again this year, with a concert by Bestiák on Saturday 26 April at 10:00pm.
The traditional lantern boat parade will take place on 30 April on the Little Danube from 8:30pm. Decorated boats will be launched after dark and will provide an amazing spectacle for the audience gathered along the shore, before the evening concludes with a concert by Bon-Bon at 10:00pm. This special aquatic event has been one of the most popular closing events of the expo for many years and is a fitting end to the city's biggest community event.
