Magyar Suzuki’s “Together on the Road” campaign focuses on inexperienced drivers this year
Do experienced drivers exhibit enough patience towards learner or inexperienced drivers? And what can those who want to feel much more confident behind the wheel do? This autumn, Magyar Suzuki’s road-safety programme “Together on the Roads – You Were Also a Beginner Driver” is launching an integrated educational campaign addressing another widespread issue.
Three years ago, the Esztergom-based car manufacturer launched its road-safety campaign. The aim here is to draw attention to issues affecting all road users that require changing. In the first year of “Together on the Roads”, they engaged opinion leaders and traffic experts to demonstrate the dangers of driving in traffic without regard for the outside world and fuelled by emotions. Aggression and impatience are causing increasing problems on the roads. Last year, the focus was on emergency vehicles using warning signals: in the “Give Way, Save Lives!” programme, the National Ambulance Service, the Komárom-Esztergom County Disaster Management Directorate, and the Komárom-Esztergom County Police Headquarters cooperated as professional partners.
Goal: encouraging public discourse
This year, again involving their regular experts, driving-skills trainer László Csörgő and traffic psychologist Dávid Zerkovitz, Magyar Suzuki has chosen another topic that affects all drivers. Having learner or inexperienced drivers on the roads is not always accepted, and is often met with impatience, nervousness, sometimes even aggression. However, it’s not only the negative emotional reactions of others that cause angst or fear in uncertain drivers when they get behind the wheel, if they even do so after obtaining their driver’s licence.
“It is important for us to focus discussions about traffic each year on topics where change is needed. We intend to play a significant cooperative role with experts, authorities and opinion leaders. This year though, we want to involve the public even more, so we are launching a contest for drivers who do not feel comfortable on the roads. We will give the winners the opportunity to gain confidence and experience, enabling them to head out onto the roads without reservations in the future,” said Zsuzsanna Bonnár-Csonka, Head of Corporate Communications at Magyar Suzuki Corporation.
Information about the “What’s Your Story?” contest can be found on the campaign’s microsite. The integrated campaign’s key messages will be delivered to the target audience, both experienced and inexperienced drivers, through press releases based on research, social media platforms, as well as paid media and influencer collaborations. The contest winners will be able to participate in a half-day driving-skills training course at the Zsámbék DrivingCamp. Stand-up comedians Orsi Sipos and Balázs Máté Szabó, racing driver Adrienn Vogel, singer Réka B. Nagy, László Csörgő, head trainer at DrivingCamp, traffic psychologist Dávid Zerkovitz, and Colonel Kristóf Gál, police spokesperson, are all involved in the campaign.
The professional partners of “Together on the Roads” are the National Police Headquarters’ National Accident Prevention Committee (ORFK-OBB) and DrivingCamp. The campaign is supported by two agencies assisting Magyar Suzuki’s corporate communications, BeSocial and Morpho.
